Tahara Nepal’s Volunteer Program offers a unique opportunity for interested individuals, couples, groups and organizations, to make a contribution to Nepali society. Volunteers can experience the rich culture and natural splendour of daily life in Nepal. 

Volunteers don’t need any degree or experience, and Tahara Nepal will strongly encourage all applicants. We only have 2 requirements for our volunteers:

      -   a positive attitude
-   a strong desire to help the orphanage

The main programs for the volunteers at our organization are:

      -  Home stay
-  Teaching English in schools
-  Working in an Orphanage

We charge our volunteers a nominal amount for raising funds.

Our organization has no external funding and is relying on the volunteer program fees to be able to work and carry out all of our projects.

We are trying very hard to keep our costs down because we realize that volunteers are making a big sacrifice and have saved for a long time to come to Nepal.

The cost we quote is in US Dollars and Euros but we do accept payment in any currency.

PROGRAM FEE

This fee includes:

• Collection from the airport, transport to your placement

• Accommodation and main meals during placement

• Accommodation during language course and orientation

• Cultural sight-seeing

• Placement donation

• Cultural/Orientation course

• Legal services

• Local phone service

The fee does not include:

• Personal Insurance

• Flights (Domestic and International)

• Laundry service

• Drinks & Bar Bills

• Hotel or Airport drop-off at end of program

• Visa fees

• Email, Internet

• Recreational Activities

Why pay to volunteer?

By volunteering in Tahara Nepal, the program fee will cover for most costs such as food, accommodation, transportation, transfers, project selection etc.

Whatever is left of the program fee is used exclusively in support of Tahara Nepal:

• Advertising Online/Offline

• Salaries for staff

• Communication with volunteers and partners, by phone/email etc.

• Website maintenance

• Government taxes

• Volunteer recruitment

• Maintaining office and other expenses

Tourist Visa Fee
The government has also revised existing tourist visa fee to be effective from 16th July, 2008.

Multiple entry 
15 days = US$ 25 or equivalent convertible currency 

Multiple entry 
30 days = US$ 40 or equivalent convertible currency 

Multiple entry
90 days = US$ 100 or equivalent convertible currency

Tourist Visa Extension
Visa extension fee for 15 days or less is US $ 30 or equivalent convertible currency and visa extension fee for more than 15 days is US$ 2 per day.


Cultural Programs

We provide Nepali culture and training programs for foreign volunteers who wish to provide their services to Nepal. We send trained volunteers to schools and communities in order to create/raise awareness regarding environmental issues, sanitation, income-generating initiatives, teaching English.

Volunteers are welcome to join the Program with their children, partners or group of friends.

First phase of the program
We go to the Kathmandu valley to pick up our volunteers coming from overseas. We stay there for one night and return back to Pokhara the next day.


Second phase of the program
Tahara Nepal runs the second phase of the program in Pokhara. It includes guided tours of Pokhara valley and a visit to cultural places of the valley.
