Tahara Nepal is not limited to any specific
geographical region of Nepal. Tahara Nepal
is working in the Kaski District and other
neighbouring districts. However, it can also
be extended to other areas considering the
gravity of situations and availability of
resources.
How does Tahara Nepal work with children?
First of all, Tahara Nepal selects the area,
identifies the needy children and selects
them. Tahara Nepal can support the children
in 2 different ways:
1)
Direct support:
Accommodation:
Tahara Nepal provides accommodation for the
children in the center. The center is a safe
and clean living environment and it assists
the children in their personal development.
Education:
Tahara Nepal gives the children the
opportunity to get a good education using
the private school system of Nepal for
primary and secondary studies. Once the
children complete their School Leaving
Certificate (SLC), between the age of 16 –
18, Tahara Nepal helps these young adults
prepare for their future independent lives.
Health Care:
In Tahara Nepal, the children have access to
a clean accommodation, healthy food and
medical care. All children are up to date
with necessary vaccinations, and medical
treatment can be provided if necessary.
Other
Activities:
Tahara Nepal offers activity material for
the children, such as toys and books, and
also visits various places in Pokhara to
hand out this material.
Visits to their family:
Tahara Nepal understands the importance of
the children staying in touch with their
relatives (if available) and with their
community. It is important that the children
know where they come from and who the
members of their family are. The children
can visit their family during school
holidays and any other times that are
available (as long as it does not interfere
with their schoolwork). Tahara Nepal will
make sure that these visits can be held at
least once a year for each child.
2)
Indirect support:
Tahara Nepal encourages children from remote
villages to have a proper education. Where
possible, Tahara Nepal provides books,
uniforms or other kinds of educational
materials. Tahara Nepal also follows up on
these children. |
